Commentary
  • A baby’s birthweight is an important indicator of health status. Babies are considered to be “low birthweight” if their weight at birth is less than 2,500 grams.
  • The percentage of low birthweight babies in the ACT remained relatively stable between 2007 and 2013, ranging from 4.9% to 6.5%. The ACT percentage (6.0%) was similar to the Australian percentage (6.4%) in 2013.
