Commentary
  • In 2014, 5.2% of students reported being current smokers.The median number of cigarettes smoked by these students was approximately 8 cigarettes per week 
  • The number of cigarettes smoked per week has decreased over time from approximately 17 per week in 1996 to 8 per week in 2014

Please note:

Ever smoked is defined those who reported having ever smoked even part of a cigarette

Current smoker is defined as those who reported smoking on at least one day in the last seven days before the survey

Daily smoker is defined as those who reported smoking cigarettes every day in the last seven days before the survey
