Commentary
  • The proportion of secondary students who have never smoked almost doubled between 1996 (44%) and 2014 (81%).
  • This trend was similar for boys and girls.
  • In 2014, 5.2% of secondary students aged 12 to 17 years reported smoking in the last seven days. Results were similar for males and females.
  • The proportion of secondary students who reported smoking in the last seven days has decreased from 20.4% in 1996 to 5.2%% in 2014.
