The ACT is expected to experience significant changes in its demographic profile over time. As in many parts of Australia, our community is ageing – the proportion of the population aged 85 years and over is expected to increase by 16 per cent between 2017 and 2022. Similarly, the proportion of the population aged 65 to 84 years will rise by 18 per cent.  The proportion of young Canberrans aged 0 to 19 years is projected to remain stable, at 25 per cent of the total population.
