Commentary
  • Survival for melanoma has been fairly stable over time. For the most recent period, 2003-2012, 5-year relative survival for persons for melanoma was 90.8% compared with 88.7% in the earliest period (1983-1992). This difference is not statistically significant.
  • Despite the good relative survival, the disease remains a significant health problem for the ACT community. The treatment of advanced stage melanoma has recently improved dramatically and may further improve relative survival rates in years to come.
